31 Days of Crafting - Day Thirty-One - Happy Easter!!!!

Happy Easter everyone!  I just wanna share the Easter tag card I made for my mom with you today.  Then I'm off to eat a completely delicious, completely unorthodox Easter dinner.  Baked cheese penne and garlic bread.  YUM!

TRUTH: Tags aren't the easiest to photograph.

TRUTH #2: They're super-hard to photograph when they're blue and my carpet is blue (and my carpet is never not blue) and I haven't created a light-box yet to take photos in.  I should add that to my goal list.

Even though it didn't photograph well, I'm proud of it. I die-cut a hinged tag, then I created a frame with another tag.  I made all the embellishments but the glitter egg on the pot myself.  I looooove creating my own embellishments, just makes the cards more special.

ETA: My mom  LOVED the tag, she's got it on display in the living room.  Makes me feel great.

I'm off to eat my garlicy dinner.  Laters!!!

31 Days of Crafting - Day Twenty-Nine - Tim Holtz 12 Tags March 2013 Tag

Happy Good Friday everyone!  I finally got my tag finished for this month's challenge on Tim's blog.  I'd be lying if I said I thought I'd get it done in time--I kept procrastinating and then boom!  Two days left in the month.  Here's what I came up with.

I had to improvise several things.  I didn't have the red tape sheet to cut, and I don't have Tim's Bunny die yet, so I looked through my stash and I surprisingly don't have any bunny dies at all.  I could've tried to do something with my Cricut but I didn't wanna use that kind of time, so I went for an oval punch instead, to create an egg shape.

I also don't have any alcohol inks yet, so I used the blunt tip of my Copic markers to color the tinsel.  I kind of love how it turned out.

Since I don't have the fringe die yet I used my Martha Stewart scissors instead.  The flowers do NOT show up in the photos but they are cardstock with Frosted Film overtop, and they're sticking in the grass on toothpicks also painted with Copics.  I tend to put my money into stamps and inks first before embellishments, so I don't have the metal Foliage or the Memo Pins (though I swore I had a pack of those), either.

All in all I'm really happy with how it turned out.  I've got an Easter basket to fill. Laters!

31 Days of Crafting - Day Twenty-One - Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Challenge!

Hi everyone!  I've been working on these on and off for days, trying to get them just right, and I think I finally figured it out!  Tim Holtz, my favorite designer/creator/crafter/genius is having a Tattered Florals Challenge on his blog, and this is my entry!

I made thirty-one flowers in all, six of which are on upcoming design team projects for The Stamping Chef.  These are the other twenty-five.

First, the black and gold flowers.  See that awesome sort of crocodile pattern?  Believe it or not I cut those out of stretchy velvet pants I used to fit into a million years ago.  I knew I kept them for a reason! I layered the velvet floral die cuts with black cotton, muslin colored with homemade spray paints and crinoline colored with Metallic Distress Stains.  I love how these turned out.

You can see them a bit better in this photo :)

Purple leopard print!  My two favorite things in one flower.  The leopard fabric was a pair of PJ pants that shrank in the dryer.  I added black cotton and tulle die cuts, as well as crinoline, muslin and cotton flowers dyed with spray inks and Distress Stains.

These are my BRIGHTS flowers, made with Distress Stains.  The patterned flowers were all made with teh same technique Tim did of gluing the Tissue Wrap (LOVE that stuff) to Grungepaper.  I don't have Distress Paints yet so I used the Stains.  Some of the layers are just pink or black cotton, some are tulle, and the rest are crinoline or muslin dyed with Distress Inks and Stains.

A favorite flower, up close.  That top layer that's pink and green might be my favorite out of everything I made. IDK why.

My pastels.  Everything is the same as the brights except that in these, I also included a layer in some of the flowers that was die cut from the inside of a security envelope.  Whenever the print is interesting, I save the envelopes and then die cut them and ink over it.  The top layer of the orange flower in front is done with the security envelope.  It's such a different look.

I have to make a special card to put this flower on, 'cause I love how it turned out. I want it to be that card's focal point.

The crinoline has such a great shape to it, it sort of stands up on its own.  I love that.

All the sheet music wound up showing on this flower.  Love that.  You can see the bottom layer is made from the security envelope, too.  A great way to recycle all that junk mail!

Thanks for looking at my flowers.  Wish me luck in winning the amazeballs prize.  Laters!!!

31 Days of Crafting - Day Twenty - My Core’dinations Creative Frenzy

My Core’dinations Creative Frenzy

Hi everyone!  Today I'm super excited to celebrate National Craft Month by applying to be on the Core'dinations Design Team!  I have to say that I use SOME kind of Core'dinations cardstock in EVERYTHING I make, whether it's Whitewash or KraftCore or Gemstones, I'm addicted to their products.  I'm really enthusiastic about crafting, especially when I love something and I LOVE Core'dinations.

I've created three special projects to share with you today.  Wish me luck!  :)

I broke the projects down into themes.  This is my vintage project.  I wanted to use more muted colors and various techniques.

I wanted everything to be sort of subtle except a few key parts of the heart image and the embossed tiles on the side.  I love how they sort of pop out first when you look at the card.

My second theme is whimsical.

I like to make my own backgrounds and patterned paper, and I thought it would be fun to create one with the Core'dinations cardstock that also has dimension.  If you look at the closeup you can see that the embossed and sanded squares are popped up on foam tape.

I think the blue and pink on the black really pop.  I like contrast of color and using similar shades of the same color in one project.

The last card I made with only one theme in mind: COLOR!

For the background, I followed the ROYGBIV color guidelines.  This was my first time doing this and I really love how it turned out.  The balloons look like they're going to fly off the card, which is what I was going for.

To the Core'dinations team, thank you so much for the opportunity to apply for your design team.  Thank you for visiting my blog and checking out my work.  I would really like to be on your team and hope you'll consider me.  Thank you so much.  --Lisa Bedigian

31 Days of Crafting - Day Seventeen - Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

I honestly wished the cashier at JoAnn's a Happy St. Patty's Day this afternoon and she looked at me like I was insane.  To be fair, she was completely not interested in anything but watching these two kids climb on the cashwrap bargain shelves.  I was kinda glad to get outta there before anything bad happened.

Anyways, to celebrate the holiday I'm bringing back an oldie but goodie.  This is a card design I sold out of at one of my first craft shows, but I always kept the pattern to remake it 'cause I think it's such a classic design.  This was like, the last of my DCWV gold textured cardstock, too.  I hate when stores stop selling stuff.

It's another slider card!!  I'm thinking I'd like to make one of these with the slider on a diagonal and put a hot air balloon on the slider.  Fun right?

I'm celebrating St. Patty's Day by watching four Twilight movies (I watched Twilight twice then New Moon and Eclipse once each, if anyone cares lol) so now I've got dishes to do before I can make anymore crafts.  Laters!

31 Days Of Crafting - Day Four!

Happy Monday guys! I'm off to a crafty start this week with another one of my Project Runway-inspired challenge cards. The PR Week Three Challenge was to create two outfits for Heidi Klum inspired by her perfume, Surprise. They were to use the colors and elements of the bottle, which looks like this.

Since Heidi wanted two outfits, one for print and one for a red carpet, I decided to make two cards. This is my red carpet inspired design.

I'll be back Wednesday with my print ad challenge card. Laters!!

31 Days of Crafting - Day Three!

Ugh computer problems!!  Every time I turn around there's another issue with it. The problem  always the same-- a software issue that keeps Windows from communicating with the hard drive.   No one knows why this keeps happening but I have to wait it out.

It really makes creating hard but I managed to finish some birthday cards. Yay me!!!  I did two different color schemes, a sepia and more of a muddy brown.

I'm off to my craft room to work on more of my Project Runway inspired challenge cards. Laters!

31 Days Of Crafting - Day Two!

Happy National Craft Month!! I'm home from a very successful trip to JoAnns for supplies and now I've got another Project Runway-inspired challenge card to share with you.

The Week Two Challenge for Project Runway this season was to design uniforms for the SPIN ping pong bars. Since I can't make a uniform card and I don't have any ping pong stamps, I decided to make a card inspired by the challenge. Spinning and the bar's colors--black, white and grey.  I instantly thought to make a spinner card.  I haven't made any in awhile and they're super fun.

These photos show the spinner in motion :)

I'm bitten by the spinner bug now, I see a lot more of these in my future!  I've got vintage birthday cards to finish. Laters!!
